A Mandate to Preserve & Restore
Harley House is a regionally significant heritage e offering a unique multi-purpose space serving the arts community and heritage-minded users in the valley. The historical value of the house lies within the traditional uses of the building, it having been the Land Agent's home and office. Historically, it is also a prime example of the form and style of the Red River architecture.
The mandate of the Harley House Comittee is to preserve and restore the house which was built in 1900, just four months after the town came into existence, to its original site as a monument to the early pioneers who braved harsh conditions to make their home and lives in the Swan River Valley. In conjuction with the Swan River Valley Historical Museum, this will be a heritage, educational, cultural display center serving youth and adults for generations to come.
